Victor De La Paz currently serves as the Chief Financial Officer for New Haven Public Schools, a position he has held since 2014, where he oversees the district’s more than $330 million operating budget.

Prior to joining New Haven Public Schools, Victor served as Chief Financial Officer for Baltimore City Public Schools from 2012-2014 and worked in Hartford Public Schools from 2008-2012 where he served in a variety of leadership capacities, including: Chief Operating Officer, Deputy Chief Financial Officer, and Special Assistant to the Superintendent. While at Hartford Public Schools, Victor led the development of the district’s first-ever strategic plan and implemented School Governance Councils at 28 schools across the district.

Before entering the realm of public education through the Broad Residency in Urban Education, Victor began his professional career in financial services on Wall Street. After business school, Victor came to CT to work for The Hartford and Aetna on mergers and acquisitions.

Born in the Dominican Republic, Victor, his mom and three older sisters came to the United States when he was 4 years-old and settled in New Jersey. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in History and Political Science from Rutgers University and a MBA from the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business.

Victor lives in Wethersfield with his wife Jennifer, daughter Victoria, and dog Calixto.
