Renée LeeHim, originally from in Toronto, Canada and raised in Amherst, Massachusetts, started her career as a special education teacher through Teach For America (TFA). Following her TFA commitment, Renée went on to lead teacher recruitment for Democracy Prep Public Schools, and to TFA’s national team helping to launch The Collective, TFA’s national alumni of color association. Renée’s work continued at TFA as a Chief of Staff where she was responsible for analyzing national trends and providing strategic design support to drive innovative alumni ventures. Renée currently serves as the Office of Community Schools’ Director of Capacity Building in the New York City Department of Education (DOE) where she is responsible for strategic visioning, capacity building, and professional development for all 130 Community Schools.. Renée has earned a Bachelor of Arts from Mount Holyoke College, a Master’s degree from Chestnut Hill College, an Executive Education Certificate through the Harvard Kennedy School, and is currently pursuing her second Master’s degree from Columbia University’s Teachers College.
